Professor Yaw Amo Wiafe is an internationally recognized expert in medical imaging with over two decades of experience in clinical practice, education, and research. As Chief of Imaging at the Global Access to Cardiovascular Therapeutics and Diagnostics (G-ACT) Foundation, he leads efforts to expand access to high-quality diagnostic imaging in underserved regions worldwide.

Biography

Professor Yaw Amo Wiafe is an internationally recognized expert in medical imaging with over two decades of experience in clinical practice, education, research, and health systems innovation.

As Chief of Imaging at the G-ACT Foundation, Professor Wiafe oversees the selection, deployment, and quality assurance of all diagnostic imaging technologies. His expertise ensures that imaging solutions are not only clinically effective but also practical, sustainable, and culturally appropriate for low-resource settings.

Professor Wiafe holds a PhD in Medical Imaging and is a Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS). He has conducted pioneering research on portable echocardiography, point-of-care ultrasound, and imaging-based screening programs in resource-limited environments.

He is a passionate educator who has developed training programs for sonographers, radiographers, and physicians across multiple countries. His commitment to capacity building has empowered countless healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality diagnostic imaging in their communities.
